A HARPENDEN primary school is hoping their fireworks extravaganza will be the best in town.

Crabtree Infants' School is the only Harpenden school to host its own display and the whole of the community is invited to join in the fun at this year's display on Saturday November 7.

As well as a fantastic firework display, other attractions on the night will include plenty of hot food stalls, a sweet and cakes stand and novelties on sale such as glow sticks and neon batons.

Gates open at 5.30pm for a 6.30pm show and tickets cost £4 in advance or £5 on the night. You can buy a ticket from a number of Harpenden stores, including Thorns, Savills, News 4 U, the Happy Shopper and Aro Sports.

Recently we, as a family (minus two of the kids), visited The Lodge RSPB reserve in Sandy, Bedfordshire. I had never been before, which is perhaps amiss of me as a birdwatcher as it is the headquarters of the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds or RSPB and only 45 minutes drive from home.
