The results have been declared at the Hertsmere count for the EU Referendum.

Announced at 2.50am this morning (Friday 24 June) by Counting Officer, Donald Graham, Hertsmere borough council’s chief executive, the results were:

The total number of votes cast in favour of REMAIN was 27,593.

The total number of votes cast in favour of LEAVE was 28,532.

The percentage turnout across Hertsmere was 76.6%.

Results are being fed through to the regional hub at Chelmsford City Council, with the national result being announced in Manchester.

Recently we, as a family (minus two of the kids), visited The Lodge RSPB reserve in Sandy, Bedfordshire. I had never been before, which is perhaps amiss of me as a birdwatcher as it is the headquarters of the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds or RSPB and only 45 minutes drive from home.
