Three pupils from Year 5 at Camp School in St Albans have been awarded for helping other children travel more safely.

Junior travel ambassadors Sara Karim Faress, Megan Peck and Elliot Tinson were presented with their awards by Herts county council’s Colette Law.

Their work included working with Year 4 children on pedestrian skills, helping run the Bikeability training involving Year 5 and 6, scooter safety training with the younger pupils and encouraging families to walk, cycle or scoot to school.

The three will also receive the Bronze Award in the National Accreditation Scheme, where schools are awarded Modeshift Stars, which refer to changing children’s mode or method of travel.

Headteacher Sharon Barton, said: “I’m delighted with the way these pupils have worked together to promote the safety of all our children. We are looking forward to receiving our award in October.”
