Sandridge drink driver failed to stop at scene of Hatfield accident

A Sandridge man has been banned from getting behind the wheel for nearly two years after drink driving and failing to stop at the scene of an accident in Hatfield.

Julius Hulme, 40, of High Street, denied drink driving back in March, but was found guilty at St Albans Magistrates’ Court on September 20.

Hulme had been driving a silver Honda Civic in Oldings Corner, Hatfield, while over the limit on September 14 last year.

He had 102 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath.

The limit is 35 microgrammes.

Back in March, Hulme had already admitted failing to stop at the scene of an accident in Oldings Corner after damage was caused to a blue BMW.

Hulme was given a community order.

He must have treatment for alcohol dependency for six months.

He must also participate in any activity as required by a responsible officer for up to 10 days.

Hulme was fined £200 and ordered to pay victim services £85, plus £650 court costs.

The sum of £935 will be deducted from his benefits.

He has been banned from driving for 21 months.

This ban will be reduced by 21 weeks if he takes part in a course approved of by the Secretary of State.
