The Joint Schools’ Choral Society and Orchestra Concert will return this year to St Albans Cathedral on March 13.

Running for 54 years, the musical event connects St Albans High School for Girls and St Albans School's students, staff, parents and friends for a shared appreciation for music.

The schools confirmed their return, featuring performances of Rutter’s Magnificat and Fauré’s Requiem.

Emma Price, director of music at STAHS, said: "All of the musicians involved have spent the last three months working incredibly hard to prepare for the concert.

"Both the Rutter and Fauré are two of this country’s most popular choral works, famous for their catchy melodies, expressive and dramatic moments and sonorous solos."

Tom Young, acting director of music at St Albans School, said: "The concert is one of the highlights of the school’s musical year.

"This important event brings together a wealth of musical talent and enthusiasm, including some outstanding musicians from both schools, and provides a unique opportunity for pupils, staff, parents and members of the local community to enjoy music together in the Cathedral.”
