SIR, - Our daughter has been assigned a school three buses and 1.5-hours travel away. We ranked our two nearest schools on our application plus a single-sex school a little further away. Herts County Council will now have to pay for taxis to get her to school under their own guidelines - perhaps £10,000 over the secondary school period.
