SIR, - Reading recent letters, it would seem there is probably some meaningful support for a refurbishment of the former Odeon cinema in London Road, St Albans. Without repeating some of the well-presented arguments that have featured of late, I would like to express my own support for a project to restore the building to its former state and renewed use like the Rex in Berkhamsted.

As other correspondents have stated, I too would be prepared to make a financial contribution towards such a project. I was a regular user of the Odeon when I first moved into St Albans in the early 70s and would welcome once again the facility in London Road, run on a similar basis to the "Rex experience".

MARTIN WIGGS,

Maslen Road, Beaufort Place, St Albans.
