IT was a record turnout for this year’s St Albans Rotary Clubs Charity Cycle Ride will nearly 2,000 taking part in Sunday’s event.
Blue skies and warm sunshine brought an extra couple of hundred entries on the day and the organisers — the three Rotary Clubs of St Albans — hope to surpass the £45,000 raised for charities in the 2004 event.
The cyclists, who included many families with children, set off from Oaklands College in Hatfield Road with the choice of 10, 20, 30 or 40-mile circular routes finishing back at the start.
