I recently saw a post from a very kind person who had a war medal and wanted to reunite it with the family of the veteran, it started me thinking and so decided to write this post, My Grandfather served in the 5th Suffolk regiment he died in 1943 in Burma, his medals were claimed by my Grandmother who by then had found herself a new Husband and they had a Family, I have know idea where the Medals are if they are still out there, the medals were the 1939-45 Star, the Pacific star and the War Medal 1939/45 I do not know which of these would be traceable by name as I am not sure if any of these medals had the mens names on them, if there is a medal with my Grandfathers name on it and you have one of his medals I would be willing to pay as it would mean a great deal to me to have an original that was awarded for my Grandfather, His name was Alec Mimer he was a Private.
