Family History PURDON

Looking or descendants of Dr Purdon of Shenley, Herts. H. S. Purdon was the pioneer of dermatology in Northern Ireland. He was the eldest of the 17 children of Dr Samuel Delacherois Purdon. His grandfather, Dr Henry Purdon (1770-1840).

Joan RUCK worked for the PURDON family as a scullery maid and then cook for a number of years. We're hoping photos may exist of Joan's time with the family, who she had very fond memories of.

Your message got catch in a trawel of the internet as I was looking for any entries on the "Purdon's"

I may well be decended from Henry Thomas Purdon, but I have the 17 children fathered by Charles Nicholas de la Cherois Purdon not Samuel (as he died young according to family history paper I have been given). Still trying to confirm all the names & their marriages.

Charles married a Miss Calvert. The names of his children that I have are follows:

Henry Samuel (whom you rerfer to I hope)

Anne Elizabeth married a Valentine, and had issue

Richard married a Jane Maria unkown?

Charles Nicholas

Lucy married a J MacCormac

James Theodore married a D C Vasy, but a death record (tombstone) of about the right date gives another name or possible a second marriage & had issue with this wife

William (died young)

John (died young)

Jane (died young),

? (can't read the handwriting) but he/she appears to marry a Ponsonby

Joseph Arthur

Eveline (died young)

Jane (died young)

Cuthbert (died young)

Ethel Maria Beatrice (d. 6 Nov 1950) married Charles Richard Beaucamp HEATON-ARMSTRONG and had issue

Eleanor married C or G D Graves & had issue

Alfred Ernest b. abt 1859 married Emily Barker & had issue = Emily Ellen (my great grandmother) born Dec 1802, Liverpool

I do hope that some of these children match with want you have.
