I understand that my family name Cross is and old Hertfordshire name but I really want to find out how old and to get started on my family’s lineage.
My grandparents had a pub named the Rose and Crown in Tylers Causeway until the late 1950’s and are buried in Essendon churchyard.
My dad Bill Cross went to Hertford Grammar School and worked at the Plant Department in De Havilland’s from before the start of WWII, and I heard some mention of him being in Dads Army though I’ve seen no record of it.
