Sawtry Colts FC are introducing a girls only Football Development Centre for girls of 4-8 years in November which will provide free of charge soccer skill training thanks to sponsorship from Produce World, Yaxley.
Produce World is a family owned business growing and packing fruit and vegetables for all the major UK supermarkets. They are committed to making a positive, measurable contribution to the communities in which they operate and are establishing a charity, The Growing Trust, to support local charities and community groups.
Gordon Fairbrother from Produce World commented ‘Despite growing demand, opportunities for younger girls to get involved with football in the local area are limited. We think that the Colt's initiative is an excellent response and are delighted to be sponsoring the Girls Football Development Centre.’
Two squads will train on a weekly basis commencing in November 2008 and will follow a structured 24-week training program.
Each girl will then be individually assessed after each 8-week segment to give them an indication of how they are progressing. Every girl will get an award and certificate after each segment has been completed.
Upon completion of the 24-week schedule the girls will be given the opportunity to join a Sawtry Colts Girls Football squad or re-subscribe to the Girls Football Development Centre.
To allow girls to see if they like football they can come along to a taster session on either 14th or 28th September to give girls an insight into what we do. The taster sessions last 45 minutes and will be free to attend. There are only 12 places per squad available, so early booking is advised.
If you know somebody who would be interested in attending the Sawtry Colts Girls Football Development Centre you can book a taster session with Steve Purnell at steve.purnell@sawtrycolts.org
