We are totally up in the air with this. Had Fenland Council Surveyor out yesterday to inspect the current works. He was far from impressed and has heard of Mr Perrins "Reputation" before.
We are proceeding with legal action. However, I feel he will have it away on his heels very soon. Keep trying though.

Hello. I found this site by luck really - was just looking to see if dear Ken was still in business. He converted our garage into an annexe starting July last year. He finally finished at the end of October however we were far from happy by the end. We actually got a good structural job done - Kings Lynn issued the certificate with no problems, although Ken was asked to get a structural engineers confirmation report and it was like pulling teeth to get it out of him to get the report. We finally did though - I think the delay was probably because Ken hadn't paid the structural engineer.
As I said, the structural work was good but the finish was apalling. Ken seems to have an allergy to qualified tradesmen and quite frankly my dog could have got a better finish on the joinery, painting, etc. He only seemed to employ labourers and apart from the electrician there didn't seem to be a professional tradesman on his team at all. As a matter of fact we currently have a carpenter here rehanging all the doors as none of them have shut properly since dear Ken and his happy team were here. No permanent damage thank goodness. Our ensuite floor tiles have all cracked though as the electrician actually tiled the room and just laid the tiles on wooden flooring. The paintwork is hideous.
All in all we consider ourselves extremely lucky that we got the job done and the remedial works aren't too extensive. We found Ken initially to be very friendly and he and his wife actually took us out to dinner (yes - he paid the bill!) However, when the work started to overrun and he and his team started to make errors and broke quite a few things, I sent a very polite e-mail to him (those of you who know him will know you can't get a word in edgeways when he speaks). I received in response a torrent of abuse. He pulled his "team" off the site and no work was done for 3 days. It was actually as though he was punishing us - we felt like naughty children. In the end, I found Ken to be intimidating and threatening and to be honest we didn't complain about the lack of snagging at the end as I just wanted him out.
During the time he was here, he sacked every member of his team and replaced them with other general labourers who, in turn, were sacked and replaced. One particular member of his team was a very decent type and returned afterwards to try and help with the finishing. He was acutely embarassed and did say that Ken normally falls out with all his staff and clients - in fact he couldn't remember a job that had ended amicably. He was no longer working for Ken at that time and was having a problem getting paid by Ken.
Early on in the process - I think in August - a lady from Walsoken turned up here asking to see me or my husband. Unfortunately we were out. Ken told us she was a trouble maker and he had had to call the police to her. The police turned up here the following day to speak to him - he told us it was because of the complaint he had made about this lady. Like fools, we believed him - you who know him will know he's very convincing - he even cried. How I wish I'd seen that lady or knew how to contact her - I never heard the full story.
Another time, we found a man outside our house with a clip=board. We went out and asked him what he wanted and he asked us about Ken Perrin. Again, Ken had us fooled so we didn't ask too many questions however the man did say there was litigation pending. The following day, Ken told us the man was an ex-employee who he'd sacked for turning up drunk on site.
We do know from the employee who returned afterwards that Ken had fallen out with a couple for whom he was doing some work in Chatteris. I don't know who it was but this employee told us that he was so upset and embarassed for the clients and that Ken had completely bullied them and taken their money without doing the work properly or completing it. I was also told that Ken had run out of money at that point. Is that couple one of you?
I have tried to e-mail Ken many times as he left his hoover here and I need to give him plenty of notice before I get rid of it. I'd also like to talk about my bathroom floor to him. No response. I did have a new year text from his wife however have heard nothing since.

I too have had dealings with Mr and Mrs Perrin. They get your confidence by being salt of the earth people. Then things go wrong, and you see what kind of people they REALLY are. Anyone dealing with this couple should be very very careful. Garage conversions, loft conversions, groundwork, landscape gardening, sadlery and now property development!!! He is now advertising 17 luxury refurbished flats in chatteris town centre! If they are to the standard that I have seen, they should be condemmed. He has no money to pay back the money he owes me, yet he has enough to buy and renovate 17 flats. NOTICE TO ANYONE THINKING OF DEALING WITH K PERRIN - DONT!
But give the man his due, he is honest, he even tells you what he does in the name of his website K&PCONS. Yes he does.
