He sat the test and passed with colours
He joined the league with flying honours
He soon ran the lines and waved his flag
Every weekend he packed his kit bag
Before to long he controlled the match
He had become the Man in Black
During many a game his whistle blew
Out of his pocket yellow and red cards flew
Football was his life and his passion
Onwards and upwards was his mission
Until that fateful day in June
When “The referee” blew full time too soon
No yellow cards or words in your ear
It was time to go mate, time you weren’t here
There will always be those that continue to aspire
But your game will continue with a league much higher
Please accept our condolences for your loss of Carl
Yours in sport
