For Keeley
She always saw the best in everybody
And never let life's hardships get her down
Patient, supportive, optimistic
Greeting each day with a smile and not a frown
She cooked amazing bhajis and Thai fish cakes
And stroked a black and white cat till it purred
She never dwealt for long on others mistakes
And respected others feelings with each word.
She loved to walk in Scotland and New Zealand
In search of scenic views, dolphins and birds,
Mountains, lakes and lochs, blue sea and white sand,
White wine of Cloudy Bay and red deer herds.
In a town in Bedfordshire she touched her neighbours
With her thoughtfulness, wisom and common sense
In a classroom midst the ancient walls of Cambridge
She struggled with hard maths for accountants.
From Harlow all the way to Auckland folk will miss her
But feel glad to have shared her for a while
Keeley, we will miss your gracious nature
Your willingness to help and ready smile.
As she was favoured by the gods, they took her early
Leaving us to mourn her from afar
So may her soul fly with the Golden Eagles
To write her name ablaze among the stars.
