A popular St Albans restaurant is up for sale, with the owner planning to retire.

Verdi's, in Clarence Road, has been listed on the market for £250,000 by Christie & Co., who described the sale as a "unique business opportunity".

Owner Terry di Francesco has been running the business for more than 30 years, and told the Herts Ad that Verdi's has been listed on the market ahead of his retirement.

"It is no secret that after more than 30 years of trading we are marketing Verdi's as a retirement sale," he said.

"This was originally planned to coincide with our lease renewal, which has unfortunately taken far longer than we expected, however as with all things commercial, these things take time.

"We are immensely proud of the business that we have developed as Verdi's is in a fantastic location and is absolutely thriving.

"We know that whoever takes the opportunity will not only benefit from our reputation, our loyal and local customer base, and park footfall, but they will be able to bring their own ideas and take Verdi's to the next level."
